Fix an inaccessible hard disk in Windows without losing the files.
File or directory is corrupted and unreadable fix .
You can do hard disk repair and check via cmd using the following steps:
Run Chkdsk to check and repair errors in Windows.
Run CMD as Admin.
type and execute chkdsk /f h: (h is the drive letter as shown on Windows.)
How do you fix an inaccessible hard drive in Windows?
If you are unable to fix your inaccessible hard drive using chkdsk, do what I did in the video:
First, take the drive to Ubuntu, copy all files from it. Even though Windows is unable to access the disk, Ubuntu will high likely be able to read it.
Second, once you backup your harddrive, you can format it on Ubuntu or Windows. if you are unable to format it on ubuntu, use Windows to format the disk.
Once it is formatted the disk will be accessible once again.
If your hard disk is corrupted and is not accessible. Like this (F: is not accessible – HDD Access is denied). What may work for you, and what worked for me is, Take this hard disk and copy all files from it, inside of Ubuntu.
If you use Ubuntu. It is probably going to read all the files which are inside here. And then you can copy them and transfer them to a different hard disk. And then after that, once you transfer them using Ubuntu, or you can use any Ubuntu variable such as Mint , they’ll probably read the files in your Hard Drive as well .
Once you do that you can just bring back to windows to format it. You’ll need to format it, just go inside of PC – Manage . Go into disk management. You can format it directly here but I first of all want to see its properties.
The hard disk has stuff inside of it but it is just not accessible. So this is the hard disk and you can click here to format. First I will need to format it.
Once it is formatted you’ll see that it is an empty disk which is accessible. So, that is how you can fix your hard disk if it is telling you that it is not accessible.
So in brief, just take the hard disk to Ubuntu or any Ubuntu variation. And then you can try to copy the files from there to a different hard disk.
And once you have copied all the files to a different disk, you’ll need to format the disk. Once you format it you’ll be able to use it again. And you can just copy the files that you copied from it back into it.

You may try to download certain software that you might use to check and repair the disk but most of them may not work. So the best way is for you to take your Hard disk to Ubuntu , you copy the files and then you can just bring it back to windows and format it.
